Standing in for President Peter at last week’s meeting PP Roger Lescun inducted Stan Somers to our club with the classification of Hairdressing … Roger welcomed Stan to membership of Albury Hume. Stan was proposed by Howard Hinde … we look forward to working with Stan and meeting his wife, Sue, in due course.

At short notice Dan Sawyer gave us an interesting thumb-nail sketch of his life … … born and raised in New Zealand … interests were rugby, rowing, kick boxing, marathon running and a desire to be a pilot. Joined Rotaract … father was a Rotarian … Dan was a member of a GSE team to Norway. Moved to Melbourne in 2001. In the area of employment has experience in Bean Bag salesmanship (!), property management, recruitment consulting, supporting New Zealanders living in Australia with  event organisation.   Interests are travelling, dance music. ‘Sensation Parties’. Now residing in Wodonga with partner Chiquita.

PP Max Blomeley is seen congratulating PP Steve McEwen who will take over the District role of Assistant Governor for Group 9 from July 2013. Steve will replace PP Terry Simmonds who will end his 3 year term then. Max was the District Governor’s Representative (a name now replaced by Assistant Governor) during 1992-1993. It was only a one-year term then. Great to see that the Rotary Club Albury Hume is continuing to be well represented within the District. PP Graeme Maddox has been on the District Youth Exchange Committee for 16 years, with 8 of these as Treasurer. He feels that this has been long enough and will retire from this committee at the end of June. Well done, Graeme!

Welcome Ben to the Rotary Club of Albury Hume. Ben a pharmacist is married to Amanda and they have 4 children.  In his early 20’s Ben was a member of the Albury Rotary club while he was still doing his degree at CSU. It’s great to have a pharmacist back in the club and Ben was told at his induction our previous pharmacist member Harold Dennis had 30 years of 100% attendance. Ben and Amanda own several pharmacies one of which is the Gardens Chemmart Pharmacy. At 30 years of age Ben will be our youngest member. Last year Ben was a great help with the clubs Bowel screening kit promotion

Meet Our Newest Member Dan Sawyer.

 Dan is a senior HR Consultant with over 20 years experience in human resources and staff assessment and selection in Australia and New Zealand. He studied at Auckland University and also holds a Certificate in Personnel from the Institute of Personnel Consultants.    Dan’s partner Chiquita Walsh (pictured with Dan) attended his induction.
