November is rotary foundation month

The Rotary Foundation Month – November is the time to celebrate the wonderful work of The Rotary Foundation. Using the links in the pages under The Rotary Foundation heading on the left side bar, why not explore the activities of the Foundation and consider how you and your club can help.

Graffiti Removal Day 16 October 2015

Graffiti Cleanup 2015 1Focus for Rotary was the old Lavington library. Dan, Vicki, Darrin with Gabi & Carla, Tabitha with Xavier & Seamus, Gordon Miller, myself and a couple of other volunteers were there to help. The library area was cleaned up very quickly with some stubborn rubbish hard to remove. Dan, Vicki, Darrin then moved to paint a fence opposite “The Good Guys” in Albury. Gordon, Tabitha and the other volunteers removed some graffiti from the Masonic Lodge in Lavington. Meanwhile 10 youths from the Albury Youth Council tackled graffiti in Dean Street. Pity those who do the vandalism aren’t good youths like these are.  I had hoped and we had more work to do. I would like next year to be better and will push for more help from the Council and will also re-invite all the other Albury/Lavington Rotary clubs to help. A least the local media was more co-operative this year ……………..  Terry Simmonds

President’s Message

What a weekend for our Club members! I imagine everyone  put their feet up on Sunday night !

Barry ran the thirteenth River of Stories like clockwork. Once again a wonderful collection of winners, poetry and stories. Hopefully we can get them on the web site.

The Applause BBQ was so busy they sold both their sausages as well as those meant for the Sunday’s Paws BBQ!  Julie ‘onions’ Frauenfelder announced she has now finished her 55kg bag of onions in 2 weeks. Over at Paddys, or ‘Beer de Luxe’, Oktoberfest was a little less frantic, however Dan managed to sell a lot of pretzels attractively attired  as he was in his leidehausen.
I am looking forward to hearing more repeats of the weekends activities at the meeting this week.  We have a Board meeting on Tuesday and the film for End Polio Now on Wednesday evening.
I am especially looking forward to inducting Gordon Miller this week and I hope you can all be at our meeting for that.  Cheers Gordon.
